Quick & easy tips on glamming up your next party/gathering

So most of us have played host to some sort of party or gathering by now and have been responsible for providing food and/or drinks. I’m not going to tell you all the different types of snacks or food you can serve at a party since even those who have a kitchen phobia can easily purchase delicious snacks, appetizers etc. However, there are some easy tricks to make your food look fancier and more appealing which can change the way people perceive the dish. Remember your eyes are bigger than your stomach ;) – it may taste good but if it looks unappealing, many people will be reluctant to bother trying the dish.

Tip #1- Instead of just dumping fruit on a platter which can look a little dull, purchase bbq sticks from the grocery store/dollar store and make fruit kabobs. Then, fill up an empty vase/flower pot with finely crushed oreos and dig the bottom of the kabob stick into your vase/fake soil(you can purchase a box of pre crushed oreos  under the baking aisle-it actually looks like real dirt). Another option is inserting the kabobs into a pineapple as the base.  Simple but definitely makes fruit look fancier and more appetizing!

On a side note, If you decide to use strawberries as one of the fruits, I highly suggest dipping some of them  in chocolate. Who can really resist chocolate covered strawberries? People seem to go bonkers when they lay their eyes on chocolate strawberries even though it is so easy to make!   If you have a fondue set lying around, even better. Keep that out so people can dip their kabobs!

Serious foodie alert! My articles for BlogTo

If you’ve ever spoken to me even briefly, it becomes pretty apparent that I might be one of the most passionate foodies out there. As an only child growing up, I had the privilege of eating out each and every weekend with my parents who are very adventurous when it comes to food. In fact, I grew out of eating kids meals on menus by the age of 8 bc I wanted the more interesting adult options lol.

Twenty five years later and I’ve literally had food from every ethnic background imaginable yet always in search for something new.  I also enjoy cooking, baking and attending all the food festivals that Toronto has to offer. My passion for food and talking about food even allowed for the privilege of working for blogto as a restaurant reviewer.

Toronto Christmas Market? Yes please!

I love the holiday season and all the events happening in Toronto during this time. I swear that there is something about Christmas that just makes everything that time of year more magical! I was away for the entire season last year working on a cruise ship when the 1st annual Toronto Christmas Market took place in Toronto. It was such a success last year that they are extending the dates for this year! :D

Did you go last year? Are you planning on going this year?

I must check it out before I leave again as this event seems to include all my favourite things in one! (And yes..i’m leaving again but only for a month from Dec 9-Jan 7 to work on a cruise ship sailing around Mexico, LA and Hawaii)
